Hair ConditionerConditioner is used to add extra strength and shine to hair. Conditioner is applied to hair after shampooing and is available in different kinds to benefit different hair types. The following information explains some of the different conditioners available and how they can improve the condition of your hair.

Different Kinds of Conditioner

Here are some of the different kinds of conditioner available today.

• As their name suggests, Pack conditioners are great for packing high proportions of surfactants into your hair. Pack conditioner has a thick consistency which is used to physically coat and stick to hair surface scales. This gives hair a thicker protective covering which is more resilient, providing a long lasting shine that is pleasant to the touch.

• Leave In conditioners offer a much thinner solution that adds strength to hair fibres without smothering them. Different surfactants are used to those in pack conditioners which coat the hair with a thinner, less viscous finish.

• Conditioners which don’t specify there type or are referred to as normal or for normal hair contain surfactants with similar properties to pack and leave in varieties.

Choosing the Right Conditioner

The following is a list of common hair problems followed by the right conditioner to solve it.

• Suffering from dry, frizzy hair? Like your skin, a moisturising conditioner should help to restore a little elasticity.

• If your hair is limp and lifeless use a conditioner with added volume to bring a bit more life.

• If your hair is fine apart from lacking shine try a conditioner for normal hair conditions for best results.

If you have been using a conditioner for some time but are not getting the same results anymore there are a few things you can try.

Hair ConditionerContinue using the same kind of conditioner but try a different brand. Over time your hair can start to develop a resistance and a build up of sebum and dirt will collect. Changing your conditioner each month will minimise the presence of sebum and other build up.

If you are using conditioner regularly but want to improve the end result try using a leave in conditioner. Used once a week, a leave in conditioner can make the difference between satisfactory and exceptional hair. Use it in the same way as a normal conditioner but leave in for a little longer if your hair is particularly dry.
